Be careful with stem

That didn't work for me because my MTB stem is too wide. The bolt on my stem is 38mm on center. That thickness maxes out at about 33mm in the middle, so the studs don't reach. Unfortunately, my bike was in service for a long time. I got it back on Friday afternoon. On Saturday I tried to install this part and found that it did not fit. The return window closed on Sunday, so I'm stuck with $26 aluminum. If anyone looks at this, I'll make a deal with you. Basically, if you are a mountain biker…

Great Garmin mount for my mountain bike

I use a Garmin 830 Edge and it holds it securely in fairly rocky terrain. I'm not doing a Red Bull DH with this one, but it holds up compared to "regular" MTB trails. It was very easy to put on and put in the right position. I thought this would be a good GoPro mount, but while it holds the GoPro great, I don't like the video I get from this mount position. There is too much back and forth movement of the pole as you move through the paths that the viewer just gets whiplash from watching. It's…

I don't trust

I just installed it on my bike. The material is molded and looks a little flimsy. The 1/4 turn of plastic that you stick your very expensive Garmin in is 1/2 the size and meaty of other, more expensive products. I went as far as putting a string on my Harmine and wrapping it around the steering wheel just in case. This product may not be bad, but it is very cheap compared to what I have. I took it apart and smeared blue Loctite on all the screws (none of them had it). Unfortunately it's going…

Stable mount, including all hardware.

Thomson Elite X4 Stem Mount. It's easy to install with the included hardware. There is a VERY small issue with the width; The bracket is maybe 1-2mm too narrow, resulting in minimal bending of the bolts. However, I don't see that as a problem, it dragged on normally. See attached picture. It installs with a NiteRider Go-Pro mount (by Revain) for my commuter light. Again, all the equipment provided is fine. The mount feels solid and the Garmin 1000 attaches to its stand and locks in place just…

Pay an extra $10.04 for the pivoting version

I've looked at many expensive mounting options and settled on this one because it does the same thing as more expensive brands. I deliberately chose the folding version. If you install a camera and buy a non-jointed version, the camera may not point straight ahead. There would be no easy way to adjust the angle of this mount to fit the camera. I don't think the top mount is as tight as I would like. If water enters, the upper unit will twist on the bracket and may fall off. For this reason, I…

Standard hex on set screw?

Arrived and installed today. I didn't quite center it on the first try so I tried loosening it and adjusting left/right. However, threading the bolts into the stem causes the washers inside the bracket to expand slightly, so I had to remove them entirely, pull out the washers, and start over. The mount isn't metric - it's a 7/64 hex head. On a bike where 100% of the other adjustment screws are metric and there is no standard size hex tool anywhere in my bike bag. It will be a PITA to adjust the

Your Garmin will fly away! Do not buy.

Garmin mount too loose. On my third ride, a minor impact caused my 1030 to fly away and crack a corner (see pic). The metal body of the mount is fine. The plastic insert that you snap the computer into has fallen through. Lesson: A $30 mount will destroy a $600 bike computer. (The Garmin computer is a very solid computer that endured thousands of miles on pavement and dirt before meeting a worthy competitor in a cheap mount.) I highly recommend finding another brand. Update: After removing it I
