don't like the new design, will end up heavier

This new model has the packing panel fully sewn into the base and includes a much heavier guide panel that is slightly smaller. In the previous model, the heavy base plate was removable and one rail was enough for me. So the new model ends up being a few ounces more expensive for me. In addition, I had a nice "hidden" compartment in the old model, which is no longer available in the new model. I don't think Velco poses as much of a problem as some other browsers. I wish companies not to "crap"…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Security

Ok but design flaw with velcro not placed properly

The other reviewers here are absolutely right about the velcro being misplaced and thus exposed on the folded side making it easy to snag on anything with he comes into contact . It's also positioned so that it doesn't cover the folder very tightly or heavily. Otherwise, it's a great binder and I like its lightweight material compared to other Eagle Creek binders (which aren't Velcro-free, btw). Nobody else mentioned it and it's not in the description so I'll tell you it's the 18 inch folder.

This is a great lightweight organizer.

I used the standard Eagle Creek folders. I love her. I bought this lightweight portfolio for an upcoming trip to Europe. I can pack one of these and some lightweight cubes in my carry on for a well organized travel system without the extra weight. This is arranged slightly differently than standard folders. I don't know why they changed the velcro on the side compression valves. The length is the same as the original folders. The other has insanely strong velcro so it can hook onto anything…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Not a vending machine

pack it Not the best packaging

We've been using Eagle Creek packaging for over a decade. We have 3 of them (2 large/male and 1 small/female). We wanted to try this new model because we thought the material would be lighter (meaning less weight in the pack). Like its sister models, it has a hard plastic plate that can be placed on top. However, it has HOLES which if placed incorrectly can leave hole marks on the top of the garment. These holes make it difficult to use as a guide for folding clothes. The finish design is very…

  • Sturdy construction

Essential Travel Accessory

We've been using Eagle Creek clothes files for years and wanted a medium size one. It's even better than the ones we already have. They improved the design and found a way to make them even lighter than their already lighter models. What we like about them is that they do multiple things. They compress your travel clothes so they take up less space in your suitcase. We rarely like to travel with more than one 22 inch roll on board for each of us, and clothes binders help us with that. If you…

Pros
  • Handy item

  • Definitely a bad product

Well made but a bit heavy

I've been using Eagle Creek's standard Packit blocks for many years and decided to switch to the Specter line when I upgraded my touring pack to the Opsrey Farpoint 40 . This folder is lighter than my old design and has some nice features and a premium feel. I especially like the finish around the plastic folding insert, I think it gives a finished look to this product. This cube is heavy compared to other ghost cubes, but that's to be expected given the rigidity required. I usually use this…
