I really like this ink stone after almost a year of use. It is very easy to rub dry ink in it. Its size accommodates both large and small hairpins, and the stone can hold enough ink for any calligraphy practice. It was made of high quality stone. This is essential if you want to practice Chinese calligraphy. Highly recommended!

Excellent ink stone. Comes in a beautiful gift box. We can say that it is carved from a single piece of rock. Flat reservoir, but when not using the reservoir, just prop up the front leg with folded paper to prevent ink from rolling there. Barely a whisper while grinding. Sometimes you get what you pay for and I highly recommend a 7" stone instead of a 5" stone.
