Update after 4 months: The flickering is almost constant now and driving me insane. I'll remove all 5 and try something else. I strongly advise against purchasing this product. Great idea, but two things bother me: 1) they are physically larger than the halogen bulbs they replaced, which was an issue for me because they barely fit due to the heatsink built into the fixture being too close, and 2) as others have reported having an annoying flicker. I had to modify my lamp base to fit although they are said to be a direct replacement for a quartz lamp. The problem was that the "pinched" part of the glass was too wide to fit in the porcelain of my socket. This "pinched" area is much wider than a standard quartz bulb. The diamond bit in my Dremel tool was needed to create a gap in my socket. Once this is done, the LED version will do. Nobody should change something that is a "direct replacement". STRIKE ONE!
