Extremely inefficient but sounded pretty decent

I was looking for a replacement for my Micca MB42x for my home theater surround back panel and was hoping they would fit. Walls *Looks very nice *Decent bass extension Cons: *Extremely inefficient, I would estimate the efficiency to be around 8082 dB/W *A ton of cabinet real estate is "wasted" on surfaces, making the cabinet not as big as it could have been can be related to his physical size. In the end I decided to stick with my Micca MB42xs as the P17s only got a little deeper but were…

How can they get so much sound out of these guys?

First of all I just want to say that I am TOTALLY satisfied with my purchase! I got a lot more for my $$ than I really expected. I've been an "audiophile" (well, self proclaimed) for years and other than a pair of other brand speakers (starting with "B" and a pair I've had since 1982!) I've never been happier with one pair of speakers. I've spent A LOT more money but these kids are amazing. Setup was easy (what's so hard about setting up a pair of bookshelf speakers?) and I was mesmerized by…

Good for mids and highs at low volume

These speakers are very small so you would expect the bass to drop, but the mids and highs are clear enough and dominate the sound. Sound. I prefer easy listening at low volumes and strive for depth and clarity, and the mid to high range is pretty good with that (gets an A). But even with "elevator" music, the bass (no matter how thin for my listening needs) is a bit too dull, erratic - even with the bass volume cranked up. However, the ability to record individual instruments (within their…

What do loudspeakers and real estate have in common?

It's all about "Place, Place, Place!" More than 90 percent of performance or sound quality problems and dissatisfaction stem from improper speaker placement. Once you have a decent set of speakers like these, take some time to figure out how to position them for your environment and experiment with placement. You will find pleasant moments and be rewarded with sound. These are beautiful speakers with a fairly even (read flat) response. Great projection and an immersive soundstage for such a…
