A nearly-identical replacement for the cooling fan in my 10-year-old HP EliteBook 8470p

On Sunday morning my HP 8470p started to make 'the fan noise' and the processor temperatures were rising. I placed the order 09:00 local time with two-day shipping. At noon on Tuesday the ebay truck arrived with the replacement fan. It is 'identical' with the OEM fan, and in five minutes time it was installed and running. HP bios noted the swap and came up running with zero problems. All component temperatures are normal, and the fan is absolutely silent. Great part, great service, great price.

Right fan wrong description

I have an hp dv7t-6000 notebook, and the product description states it is for a dv6. The product itself is a very good match as it was not exactly the same as an hp original, but it works quite well. Much suggestion is to look very closely at the pictures to make sure it is the correct product you are looking for.

  • Perfect fit for my HP Elitebook 8470p. Simple to install and very quiet.

  • The description indicated this was the correct fan for my laptop, but it's not.

Better Buy a Screw Kit Too

Seems to work ok, but I couldn't use the screws in the original fan. They are too thick for this replacement. I'm not getting any error message and so far it is fixed. Not really powerful and I need to resolve the heat issue. I don't know how to replace a heat sinc on this laptop, but removing the charging cable seems to help a bit for a while.

Works fine, installation could be improved

No instructions, but it's mostly self-evident. Unscrew old one, remove, unplug, etc. A couple of screws on the new unit would have made it simpler. Also, instructions not to overtighten the screws would have been a big help.

  • The replacement fan may not come with a warranty, and any damages incurred during installation or use may not be covered by the manufacturer

Tricky Item for my opinion

Probably okay but it turns out that there are quite a few different KSB0505HB fans and they are all a little different from each other. This one was a little too thick and just slightly different in configuration from mine so I returned it.

Pros
  • Ordered this for a relative to fix their work PC, worked just fine.
Cons
  • The cost of the replacement fan is relatively high, making it prohibitive for budget-conscious consumers

I ordered a fan, and got pens given they look like great pens micro fine tips different sizes. Completely not what im need for my laptop. um the amazing thing is when i look up the pens there actually worth twice what the fan is worth. But again i need a fan not pens.
