Small bark/large bite

This little engine is well built. Securely mounted on a machined aluminum base, it's perfect for sharpening knives and light, quick shaves on a wide variety of materials. Easily worth the money, belts are cheap and painless to change. With the right abrasive belt, you can sharpen just about anything quickly. Highly recommended as it is a frequently used item in my tool collection.

Superb little machine

Looking at some of the other reviews I think some buyers did not read the description. This is a small blade sharpening and modeling machine. I have a collection of pocket knives and make wooden toys for kids to display. For my purposes it is perfect. I've just sharpened 12 pocket knife blades and smoothed down a worn knife handle and now the belt looks brand new. I am very comfortable. If you want to sharpen your kitchen knife, this isn't for you.

Does the job!

Contrary to one reviewer, I found it has 7 speeds. The figure shows 7 LEDs on the power supply. The switch has seven positions. The motor is powerful enough, the belts are easy to change. Polishing is done with a higher grit to get a smooth finish. The lack of instructions detracts from my appreciation, but if you're mechanically inclined this is a really easy install. Overall I'd say I'm very happy with it, but we'll see in the long run.
