Not suitable: Puzzles

The set looked good when I unpacked everything. The instructions were pretty clear but the details didn't add up. The gears that go from the engine to the wheel itself do not connect.

Pros
  • Little competitors
Cons
  • High price

Parts don't match

Design is terrible. The parts don't match and the instructions are vague. Landed in the trash after many days of trying to find workarounds to fit it. Very disappointing for my 10 year old who deserves and loves making DIY kits.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Bad

Cheap, difficult to assemble, falls apart

Bought for my son as a boy scout project. The wood is so cheaply made that it keeps breaking. The instructions were hard not to exist. After its final completion, it disintegrated within a month. I am very disappointed as we looked at many projects before deciding on this one.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Dubious purchase for the elderly

Fun to paint, 90% easy to assemble

Made this with my 4 year old daughter. She painted all the details and then we put them together. Most of this was easy to put together, but the tiny pins holding the wheel to the cog were complex and needed filing (a file was provided). The engine didn't work for us. We haven't done any troubleshooting, but we haven't gotten it working yet.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Not sure
