cheap heating!

Well I bought this thinking it wouldn't be great but it's great it's been almost a year and it's still good! I would buy it again if I had a different tank

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

My experience with aquarium heaters

I received this product on a Monday and on Friday it stopped working. I didn't leave the item activated all the time. Only when I was in my class did I watch the water temperature.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • I will say nothing

Great little heater!

This works great in my small aquarium! Quiet and not distracting from the tank's decor. Constant temperature without worrying about being different. The packaging was protective and I'm glad it arrived with no problems. Happy customer!

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Poor heating in fish and aquatic animals

I had a fluctuating fever for a while. Condensation soon began to form. I woke up one morning to find that a metal object had somehow gotten into the heater water. The aquarium only ran on a bike, so no fish died, but two snails were killed by the substance.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Not the best choice - spend a little more and get a better device.

I bought 3 of these for 3 identical grow tanks and installed them the same way. It was a bit like Goldilocks - one was too hot, one was too cold and the third was just right. The one that was too hot got so hot it killed the fish and evaporated 3/4 gallon of water from my 2.5 gallon tank in 16 hours!

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Can I add something?

Sometimes works best in aquarium heaters and coolers

Bought two of these to keep my Beta tanks warm. One of them does a great job of maintaining the desired temperature (about 80 degrees) but the other was very sensitive; The smallest turn of the temperature dial causes the temperature to change between 65 and 90 degrees (which isn't great if you don't want to cook the fish). It's definitely the cheapest heater I've seen, so I guess you can't expect top quality, but for the most part it does the job well.

Pros
  • Always Liked
Cons
  • Infinitely Sluggish

Don't waste money! Can't set temperature

Useless. I spent 3 days getting it on the right setting to keep my 5 gallon tank at 78 degrees. It either doesn't heat and the water stays at room temperature, or it overheats STRONGLY at the lowest setting of the dial and the water is about 90 degrees! I was looking for a cheap heater for a small "nursery" aquarium for one of my cichlids that has eggs and decided to give this one a try. Don't waste your time and money! You get what you pay for

Pros
  • Looking forward to it
Cons
  • Nothing

Totally agree with the negative reviews

After trying to calibrate this heater for almost a week I gave up. The final straw was, on my way home from work, I found my tank had heated up to almost 90 degrees. My fish almost turned into fish sticks. Also a valid tip on Frankenstein noise. This heater can run for about 10 minutes and generate an annoying buzz while it decides whether to stay on or off. To set the temperature, I can turn the knob all the way and nothing happens, or I can turn it slightly and it suddenly turns on and then…

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Unusable features
