It's actually opaque and slightly stretchy. Thin on the sides and almost see-through - not sure if they're waterproof. Don't intend to spill, so I can't say if it's waterproof. I wonder if this can prevent allergens from being so flimsy and stretchy. Also, it seems hot to sleep on since it's very similar to plastic. Let's hope he does his job. Linenspa follows the "one size fits all" principle, which isn't necessarily useful here. The height of the cover does not stretch, so it is not suitable for a shorter mattress. This means a looser cover if your bed doesn't reach the maximum height setting. The fabric isn't exactly plasticky, but overall it definitely doesn't feel like fabric. The first impression upon opening the box is that the Linenspa doesn't look as good as the Allerease case. Easy installation. Good for College Twin XL mattress. Not very soft but then again my skin doesn't touch it. It also doesn't make any hoarse noises. I put memory foam in the cover, mattress topper, and sheet on top of the college mattress.
