Works well and made in the USA!

This is a good putty made in the USA. It's not as good as Herbs, but Herbs only has a fine finish, the blacks are rougher. I've read other reviews that say it has no noticeable graininess and I totally disagree! This compound works well as a first step to buffing/buffing the blade edge and then finishing with Herb's or a cheaper green compound.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Vanish

Stick with trusted supplier

I have ordered brown and black polishing pastes from Enkay and they have worked great. However, I have used thinner polishes (green, white and red) from another manufacturer and they were not needed. Even the best competitor's putty left new scratches on my freshly polished metal. Buy all polishes from a trusted supplier that uses universal color coding for coarse and ultra-fine formulations. I recently purchased Enkay's white and red compounds and they did the job perfectly!

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Great for the first step in truing/sharpening a knife

I bought this product to sharpen knives by truing leather. For this purpose it works great! This is the first stage of sharpening as it has a lower grit. It removes some material, but not too much, and begins the polishing and sharpening process. A one pound stone is a lifetime supply if you plan to use it to sharpen knives. It is easy to apply to the skin like chalk and requires no heat unless you intend to use it. other thinner connections.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
