After months of searching for a sturdy and secure mount for the Note 8, I've found the answer! I didn't want to pay for an action camera so I came across this mount that works with monopod adapters. When I say "robust" it doesn't justify this mount, I've attached it to the windshield AND action sunroof in my BMW 750li and this suction cup hasn't moved or removed due to the extreme Las Vegas heat. And it comes with a GoPro mount so you can use it for that too.

The mount itself works great, is easy to adjust and screws right into the camera. If you use your phone to create videos, you need a separate phone app. Also, it's more than likely that your car's dashboard isn't smooth enough for the suction to work. I love this swiveling suction cup. Quality and design are very good. The suction cup held tight while I drove miles through Yosemite, I had one outside and one in the car (on the glass) and it never fell off or came loose.
