Gen 4 worked for me after manually toggling the PCIe gene switch from Auto > Gen 4. Used 3080ti with MSI 570x motherboard. Reliable and cheap Gen 4 option The cable is laminated which I don't really like but mine is hidden so I don't care as long as it works what it did after changing the bios.

First of all, the cable works perfectly, there are no problems with the installation. Looks good, good reviews. BUT this cable is not soft at all, more like grandma's wrapping for Christmas. I was afraid that I would break this cable. As I said, I'm happy with the cable, even if I don't know how long it will last in my system.

***UPDATE***9/3/21Cable works as expected. I managed to attach it to the Phanteks GPU mount a bit, using a screw hole towards the input side of the GPU and a washer to grab the board from the other side (towards the front of the case). . It's not perfect, but solid enough. Haven't had a chance to try the cable yet, but it doesn't work with the Phanteks vertical GPU mount yet. PCP attachment points mismatch. It's a pretty popular mount so I'm not sure why they went with this design.

I tried 2 different PCIE 4.0 adapter cables. Both experienced occasional crashes and countless stutters in games in the first few minutes. I chose Funtin's PCIE 3.0 which looks great and works great in PCIE 3.0. The problem is that you had to set it in BIOS first (on my X570 Dark Hero) before it would display the image since their PCIE slots are running at 4.0. So this expander works 5 out of 5, my motherboard is only PCI 3rd gen so I had no problems with great plug and play quality. This has nothing to do with the extension cord, just my overestimation. I chose 300mm as I have a WiFi card on the PCIe below, but 200mm would have done better, my GPU is pushed forward more due to the too long extension. Again, my fault isn't the extension cord.
