Not suitable for 99vw golf without mods. The back of the cup holder tray needs to be trimmed slightly to allow the cup holder to snap into place.

The factory cup holder broke on my 2000 Jetta. It slipped right in and is better than stock. It opens and fits more cups than the standard cup, which isn't designed the same way.

This cup holder fits right into the dash slot on my 2000 Jetta and works great! It was so easy to put the device back in place. It probably won't hold a couple of 40-ounce drinks, but it will definitely do the job it was made for.

Unfortunately it doesn't fit my 2002 Golf. There are small metal protrusions on the top front of the device that stick out too far to fit the hole in the dashboard. Everything else was identical to the original part, so I was very upset. Maybe I just got a bug. I can try reordering and see if I get better results.

The cup holder itself looks just as classy as the original seat. But the set is definitely not the same. The lid/valve does not have a central hinge, so it flexes. You can see the metal behind it from every angle in the car. Now my eyes hurt. Not sure eye soreness due to a poorly designed OEM style cup holder will work.

The cup holder cartridge doesn't fit all the way in to secure the side clips and there is a significant gap in the top of the flip cover. When trying to install it properly, one of the hinges on the flip cover broke, so I had to remove the cover and replace it with the original cover. But it hardly works.

Looks very nice at first glance. Once installed, however, it becomes very apparent that the front panel is curved, leaving an EXTREMELY noticeable gap. Also, because the metal locking rails are too high, it's not as secure as the OEM and is EASILY removed with a slight tug. I have to say that this is probably the worst third party replacement part I have come across.
