They were very useful for me in assembling the deck. I could just attach the hanger to the joist with staples and then insert structural screws or nails. Over time, the protective cover began to peel off due to friction on the sharp edges of the joists' hangers, but still allowed me to finish the project. The only downside is that they are expensive.

These work much better than the bar clamps I've tried before to hold joist hangers in place. My only complaint is that they are too close to the nails, which I sometimes try to hammer in, and I've broken a decent amount of the orange finish as a result. So far I haven't seen any loss of functionality. I would just like to find a version designed for double width (3") joist hangers, which is what I use.

Brilliant, simple design. Does exactly what it should and does it well. A real time saver and hassle. Pre-installing hangers on a joist, ledger, or lintel is fine, but with lumber up to 1/2 inch wide it can result in a fairly uneven surface unless you pre-sort by width and allowable Area. In my opinion this eliminates the advantage of timely pre-installation.
