Great idea! It works, but the center rail isn't high enough for a snug fit like a GoPro base. I added the included 3m sticky foam pad and it worked! I would give a solid 5 if the center rail was the right height for a snug fit.

Foam strips with adhesive backing will be sent, you will need them. I had to cut and glue the foam strips onto these mounts to eliminate play between the mount and the part that slides in. I checked several parts that fit these mounts, they all had play unless foam was installed. Expected it to fit better.

I love these quick release tripod bases. They are not too heavy and very well built. My only complaint isn't with the plate itself, but with the design of the GoPro's quick release mount. when mounted on a tripod, there is always a slight play when the camera shakes. There had to be an extra screw to attach the top plate to the base plate to prevent this. also i like it!

They are sturdy but unfortunately too short to securely hold True Go Pro quick release mounts. Instead, they shake, which isn't great for an action camera. Adds a lot of shake to my videos when used on a monopod. Some of my aftermarket mounts snapped in a little tighter, but one of them actually broke, leading to the discovery that most of my other mounts, including the Go-Pro mounts with the rubber insert, don't fit very well.
