Poor design, incandescent compatible

This lamp is not well suited for its intended purpose. It is advertised as a panel light (see photo on the packaging) mounted upside down with or without a reflector. The problem is that no light comes out from below, which is a flat plastic plate. All light is emitted to the sides. I built it into a ceiling reflector, but the lamp is so long that most of the light comes out from under the reflector. bottom line; It's a bit dark under this thing where I work, but the walls are well lit.

Pros
  • LARGE AREA LIGHTING CORN POST LIGHT – 300 watt equivalent lamp designed to replace high pressure mercury and sodium lamps. lasts a lifetime
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Good lighting, too expensive, questionable durability

I have 2 of these lanterns, one is 2 years old the other is 3 years old. They light up my garage well. They don't throw much light straight down, which is obvious when you look at their design. They're fairly bright and start up right away (don't worry about the cold). One of these lights has been giving me trouble lately. There seems to be a loose connection in the bulb, about 50% of the time I have to take a ladder and move the light around in the socket before it lights up. I'd be very happy

Pros
  • FEATURES - These high lumen LED bulbs provide maximum illumination for large rooms, barns, or other areas where you need more light with instant brightness; 100% mercury free; produces 4000 lumens with only 35 watts of energy and includes a socket adapter E39 Mogul
Cons
  • . There are other interesting options.

Do I have an LED fetish?

My girlfriend says I have a fetish for LED bulbs and after seeing me buy this bulb she does maybe right! I will say this, I love quality light. These rancid CFLs are driving me crazy and I'm happy to say I never installed them voluntarily. However, LEDs are different. I think they are a quality light source and if you know what you are buying they bring great satisfaction, unbeatable durability and energy savings for the price. (TIP: A typical 60W incandescent bulb produces 800-850 lumens of…
