Check which style you need.

The new type of thermostat I also bought had a pressed in gasket so it wasn't needed. If you are replacing the thermostat and housing, you may not need this gasket.

Pros
  • Specially designed for a perfect fit
Cons
  • Nothing

7.3 Lower Powerstroke Water Seal

99 F250 Super Duty 7.3. I bought it locally in place of the Ford F81Z-8255-AA (aka RG-602) part. For my application, this is the elbow below the thermostat (the elbow where the large lower radiator hose connects). Fel-Pro 35702 is the gasket for the thermostat itself. Due to the slightly rough finish due to corrosion I chose to use a thin coat of ultra gray RTV to enhance this seal. It fits and works perfectly.

Pros
  • Meets or exceeds all OE specifications
Cons
  • Guard

God, does this thing work or what?

I purchased and installed this on my '97 Ford F-350 Ol' Red (Cab, Manual Transmission, Long Body, Painted House Color White) and woop-tee-doo! No more electricity! Although yes I agree the price seems a bit extravagant could you save $2 to buy a standard gasket for this important role? Gasket that can hold (ooh) 16 pounds? I know I wouldn't do that, and I sleep well knowing my thermostat housing is no longer leaking at the junction between it and the water pump (or Bomb de Agua for our friends…

Pros
  • Conformity Confirmed
Cons
  • Very Expensive
