The cardboard sides have been glued to the edge so they break when you try to push them through the duct on the vacuum cleaner. The ones I was able to stuff in my vacuum ripped at the bottom where the seam is. Filled the entire inside of my Sears vacuum with dirt (didn't discover this until I went to change the bag). So far so good. I grind coffee from whole beans myself so it's very easy to make sure the grind isn't too fine so the end product isn't full of sediment, but the 'filter' mesh is pretty thin and I think regular ground coffee will work too. work pretty well. I've only used it once but it worked as advertised. Also, my cold brew coffee has been sitting in my fridge for a few days, and because it's sealed fairly well, it hasn't picked up any weird fridge smells or tastes.
