A piece of junk. - Network and Cable Tester

Bought for TV cable tracing. The signal was strong enough to trace a path of about 15 feet, no further. I hooked it up to one end of the coax then sent it up to the attic to figure out which one. No signal. Through trial and error I figured out the correct cable, but the tester didn't help at all. A piece of junk. Don't waste money.

This works very well.

I finally needed this cable locator/continuity tester after having had it since mid 2017. I needed to identify wires from a bundle that came pre-wired to (two) new garage door openers I'm installing. The TONE tracer works very well and you can choose between warble (factory setting) and steady tones by sliding the switch next to the 9V battery. Not an elite block, but a great starter set.

For tracing a new house and tracing wires on CNC machines. Great for that. It has RJ 11 but it connects perfectly to RJ 45. Alligator leather clips are good too. Use a stripped piece of coax cable to attach it to the center pin to trace the cable lines as well. Not sure why some say it's weak as I'm tracking a 5400 square foot house with drops everywhere and have had no trouble tinting long runs. I just made sure I bought good quality batteries.
