Great tool but too expensive.

I can't believe I've been a photographer for many years and I'm realizing it RIGHT NOW! It comes flat and you stack it together. However, the directions are a bit confusing. I ended up watching a YouTube video to find out because it depends on your camera settings! It's a great tool to have on hand and I can calibrate all my lenses! It's a bit overpriced for what you get!

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • A bit fixable

Worth a try - camera & photo

I confess I haven't tried it yet. However, everything points to a good mechanical way of focusing. However, this takes a lot of time, so I would suggest planning a day. All reviews were good. It's only cardboard and smaller than I thought it would be, but the print is crisp and fresh. I don't think you'll regret it if you're willing to take the time. I will update my review when I actually use it. For now, I'm just giving you my thoughts to help you make decisions.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • poorly thought out

I joke about the product. Cheaply made, tough.

Product joke. Cheap assembly, junk assembly is difficult. The lines are so tiny it's hard to see them. There are no micro numbers between steps, you have to figure it out. Not that it's difficult, but you don't have to. The price might seem right, but not if it doesn't work. If you really want to calibrate your lenses, get the Colordata SpyderLensCal. You can buy it on eBay for $50 which I did. I'm a professional photographer and I need a calibration tool that really works.

Pros
  • Excellent work efficiency
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Not bad but could use some improvement

Fairly good. I now use this and a similar target to calibrate my lenses and am very glad I didn't pay more for these 'professional' ones? those who do essentially the same thing. I like that it's small and doesn't add clutter to my camera gear. But I have to say the history is a bit simplified and the other target I bought works better for the most part due to the variety of markers. This target with its scale/slope is too close to a 45ยฐ ruler position - it could benefit from addingโ€ฆ

I'm shocked - $30 for a piece of cardboard! Ridiculous!

I bought this to keep my Leica M rangefinders under control and I wanted to put together something more that I can trust - well, FAIL! The idea is not bad, but fails miserably due to the construction and partly the design because of the costs. First off, it's a glorified piece of paper that's not even laminated or protected, meaning it'll last about as long as a paper crane. Secondly, the labels aren't bold enough for POP and don't use the right typography to maximize the convenience of theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Compatibility

I wish I had read the reviews before buying. If it were me, I wouldn't expect a precision calibration tool to be made out ofโ€”oh, I don't knowโ€”precision hard plastic. Imagine my confusion and dismay when I opened the Revain box and found the "pyramid" even though it was flat. And it's made of cardboard that bends and folds. You know, the photographer's cousin on the Steak-n-Shake kid's menu (Fold tab A into slot 1, bend until B folds into C, and now you've got a great machine!). So okay, awayโ€ฆ
