Very good ice ax

This is still a very good ice ax but not as reliable as the hammer/ice ax combo they also sell. This is more useful for breaking ice cubes that "stick together" than breaking off continuous blocks of ice, which would probably work for this. However, it is very good value for money as long as you don't need to use it on very hard or blocky ice. still good or even better than any other similar device I've seen online. Just not as good as the hammer they sell.

Leaks Oil Traces

This ice ax is built for tough use. However, the main reason I gave it 2 stars out of 5 is that when using this ice pick to break ice, traces of fuel oil come from 1 or more pickaxes/teeth. It looks like the oil is escaping where the picks/teeth connect to the base of the ice ax. Using this ice ax to break ice will leave black oil stains on the ice surface. Worked wonders to defrost our garage chest freezer quickly and easily - worth every penny!

For the past 12-18 months I have repeatedly asked my wife to stop filling the freezer in the garage so I can empty and defrost it. I ended up getting tired of asking and desperately decided to give it a try.
