This ice ax is built for tough use. However, the main reason I gave it 2 stars out of 5 is that when using this ice pick to break ice, traces of fuel oil come from 1 or more pickaxes/teeth. It looks like the oil is escaping where the picks/teeth connect to the base of the ice ax. Using this ice ax to break ice will leave black oil stains on the ice surface. This happened every time we used this ice ax for 3 days. I also found that one of the picks/prongs was a bit loose to the point where it moved in and out slightly. I really liked this ice ax but had to return it; because of that oil leak on the ice. It seems strange that traces of oil are leaking from the ice axe.
