The steel is too soft to hit

These strikers are terrible. The angle is wrong and the steel is not hard enough. I tried them on four different ferro rods and the result was the same. Waste of money, even a small dollar amount.

These heads give very little spark

These heads give less than 1/2 spark than my other heads. False metal suitable for cleaning ferro rods. These racquets may look good, but they are an inferior product. Buyer warning!

totally useless

Firstly there were only four in a pack of five and secondly they do not spark as they can ignite a cotton bud dipped in petrol. These things are completely useless. Used my knife with a good 90 degree blade, looked like a July 4th sparkler.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

Works well for me with emergency fire starters

Contrary to other reviews I have had no problems so far. I got them the other day and the first thing I did was try it out with one of my ferro rods and some dry lint. It worked well. I got decent sparks on the first hit. They are very light and are comfortable to hold. I didn't have the option to use the rounded scraper on the end or a bottle opener. But given the protrusions in the rounded area, it looks like it'll do a good job of scraping greasy wood or the like. I would say I'm very happy…

Almost everything works better - thrown in the trash after trying it.

I'm not sure about the difference between the reviews but I really know what I'm doing. That does not work. The absolute best spark I was able to get out of mine was when after disastrous results I decided to cut it with an electric grinder. Then, and only then, would they give a decent spark. Although the sparks are still smaller than any cheap butane lighter. Serious. What works better than that: a 50 cent "folding map knife". Camping/recon knife at the store for $1 (total junk). Any other…
