This is a decent product, does what it is designed to do. It filters the hard bits of fat out of the bacon and stores the fat for future use. It looks beautiful on your countertop and is well made. But a gasket that offers a decent lid seal would be a huge improvement. Otherwise it serves its purpose. We cook with bacon often enough to keep it on the counter, but I wish the lid had a tighter seal.

At first glance this seems like too much, but it is not. That's great. We've already completed one refill of the canister and are on to the second. It's nice to have some clean, fresh bacon grease to cook with. The unit looks great in our kitchen and is the perfect size. The only minor downside is that the filter holes are tiny so small bits of bacon get caught in the fat, but that's not enough to bother me. If you are a perfectionist, you can install a small stainless steel strainer. :)

Exchange for another of the same type. Hopefully the replacement will not have the glaze defects that are present on the original. There are burrs on the bottom edge that can scratch the countertop. I tried to file sharp errors but it didn't work well enough. Ceramic filter unglazed. This poses a problem for cleaning and disinfecting since unglazed porcelain is porous. Update: The replacement was delivered quickly. shouldn't have to deal with design or manufacturing defects at this price point.
