High frequency hum in internal components

I disassembled the first one because of the high frequency hum. I attached a fan to the side of the case with rubber baffles. The previous fan of another brand was silent at this point. The second Fractal fan that replaced the first rma also has a high-pitched hum, although not as loud as the first that was returned. I guess I'm also sending back a replacement and I'm still looking for a new fan. I was hoping the brand name made up for the cheap price but I think you get what you pay for. :(

Stable and quiet below 1300rpm

I am so disappointed in these fans. I wanted to have a push-pull effect on my CPU heatsink and it worked fine, but once those fans went over 1300rpm. Say goodbye to the silence. It crunched and howled at a speed of 1300 rpm. Hell, I even got it up to 2000rpm and it sounded like a jet losing parts on the runway. My case has 8 silent 140mm Fractal Design fans, which at maximum speed (only 8000RPM) make less noise than one of those 120mm dynamic 1300RPM fans. I will return them and choose Noctuaโ€ฆ

The fans are excellent, the screws are not very good

I already had 2 and wanted to finish the front panel of my case. Fans are good and quiet. They do their job well. The screws to attach them are terrible.

  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not bad

Fractal is my favorite professional quality fan

I've tried every brand of 'professional' fan for the past 20 years and I find Fractals to be the most reliable and affordable quality product I have . have used. To be fair, other brands might be better now after issues in the past, but I just didn't go back to them to find out. For me, Fractal hasn't changed in all the years I've used it. They are quiet, very well built and push a lot of air through. I haven't had a single crash (or sound). With the exception of just one other brand that I use

Works great no problem removing screws

I bought a Fractal Design Define R5 case that had several of these fans and I wanted more fans for more airflow. To score some style points, I wanted them to match. I've read the reviews on here about stripping screws so thought I'd be extra careful. I have some extra screws for the fans anyway. To be honest the hardest part was getting each one out of the box and the box is just thin cardboard. I installed three of them and had no problems with any of the screws. Maybe they fixed the problemโ€ฆ

Easy to mount to case Fan

I needed a second front intake fan. This lowered my CPU temperature by almost 10 degrees Celsius. For those complaining about stripping screws: Use Phillips #2. It fits perfectly and will not tear off the screw. Since the screws are self-tapping, I suggest cutting the screws first to make the threads before mounting the fan itself, and then removing the screws, installing the fan in place, and simply securing it with screws .

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Unreliable

quality, silent; screws needed?

very quiet, almost as quiet as the fans in my case. Recommended. When attaching to the front of the Fractal Design Define R5 case, I found that the required screws were missing. My situation is a bit unusual, this bracket needs "long" screws. The fans came with the more common short screws. Fractal Design recommends using these long screws for #6-32 x 30mm case fans; burnished, Phillips pan head screws. They're almost impossible to find, but other types of heads are more readily available andโ€ฆ

A good fan is ruined by mounting points and screws

The fan itself is decent. I would rate it on par with the Scythe Kaze Flex for looks and build quality, however I ignored reviews that mentioned screws and installation. There's a reason why so many reviews mention this... Here's the main reason1. The screws are soft and this strip is easy becauseโ€ฆ2. The screw holes are underthreaded and too small, 3 of the 4 are stripped and I managed to brute force them in after switching *3* different head size screwdrivers just to get them in. One day itโ€ฆ

Big fans but legitimate concerns about stripping screws

I consider myself smarter and more cautious than the average negative Revain reviewer. Usually, bad reviews are the result of user error or absurd expectations, not something bad about the product. Unfortunately, with these Fractal fans, any fears that the screws could easily come loose are absolutely true. Installation. I was only able to easily loosen one of the eight screws on my two new 140mm fans. Only to find that I installed them upside down on the front of the case. The first pleasureโ€ฆ
