Good hammer but more like a 19 oz.

Looks like a well balanced hammer but isn't 16 oz. I also have a 16 ounce Dalluge hammer and it is much lighter than this hammer. Also compared to my Vaughan 19oz and it seems to be about the same weight as this one. Aside from the weight of the hammer I would argue that this hammer needs to be able to support some of the frame and formwork. I also like the feel of the grip and how it hits the milled nail.

Pros
  • CONVENIENCE AND FEEL
Cons
  • Negative

Heavy duty frame hammer

This is a quality hammer with a larger size (for frames). It weighs 1 pound and feels balanced and feels good in hand. Its overall length is 15.5 inches. I like that it's forged from a single piece of steel so it doesn't break in the middle. It is double galvanized to prevent rust. A cross-shaped shading is engraved on the head to keep it from slipping off the nail. The handle is made of fiberglass, fixed with epoxy glue, with a comfortable rubber pad. Good choice.

Pros
  • Hand tool
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Well it outlived my DIY projects

I've worked on MANY DIY projects in my first house I just moved into, it's a top retainer and so far, since I used that hammer. been through a lot and it lasts. I've recently had to redo the entire barn floor and pry so many nails out of rotten/old wood that it's not even right, the hammer did the trick and I didn't break it which is always a plus for me. Now compared to my old hammer - my old hammer has a little more weight on top and when you hit it a little more weight really helps drive…

  • Tools and Housewares
Cons

Don't try to upgrade the hammer

About 15 years ago I built a house and bought a 16 ounce frame hammer. I didn't think I needed it until I started clogging my nails with my 12oz and then another guy suggested I give it a try. Those big nails went straight in. And after we finished the house, the hammer disappeared. Maybe there was drywall somewhere, or maybe someone took their tool and snatched my hammer. But he disappeared. This is a very, very useful tool when you need to hammer in some big nails. And it's a great hammer…

Pros
  • Claw hammers
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other pickaxes
