It's nice to type but takes some getting used to

Just received and so far liking it. It takes some getting used to, but is comfortable. Will be updated later if anything changes. WARNING. If you see a "Frequently Bought Together" box that says Kinesis Freestyle2 Keyboard Accessory Kit VIP3 (KIN-FS-VIP3), IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS KEYBOARD.

Pros
  • Useful not just for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Will be added later

This WILL REGISTER YOUR KEYS (serious security issue)

Everything was working fine until one day (for reasons I don't know) I hit the command+space combination to open the app (this is how you open the app search box on a Mac) and a lot of the text I typed earlier in the day came up. It wasn't from the clipboard - it contained the app I sometimes search for, the web domains I typed in, the body of the emails, etc. I don't know how that key relates to it, but in short - THIS KEYBOARD SAVES YOUR TEXT. I don't know where it's going, but it's a serious

Garbage. Kinesis only makes a good keyboard, and it's not that.

The keys are angled, not aligned, not curved, so *not* quite* ergonomic. The only ergonomics here is to keep your arms at the same height as your shoulders. However, I didn't buy it for the "ergonomics factor"; I bought it because of the quality of Kinesis and the ability to program macros. BUT the programmable macro function has a bug. I have Advantage and Advantage 2 and you can use hotkeys for multi-key macros. The Freestyle Pro I got randomly resets modifier keys and overrides macros…

much better than Freestyle 2

This is basically the same as Freestyle 2 which I've used for years, but the switches are much better. I can type faster and more accurately. There's room for improvement, the Cherry MX Brown switches aren't as good as the older IBM Model M keyboards, but I'm very happy with them. The only reason this isn't five stars is because the Pro has much higher demands on KVM switches than the Freestyle 2. The Pro didn't work with the Iogear GCS932UB, which I used with the Freestyle 2, or with the Sea…

MacOS Users Proceed With Caution

Getting Freestyle Pro up and running has been quite an adventure. First, I decided to swap out the keycaps, install the layout on the Mac, and get to work. no The first problem is that, unlike on Windows, the 64-bit SmartSet application must be downloaded separately and then explicitly activated. Second, if you get anything even slightly wrong, the Command and Option keys will fold over. Third, the indicator lights are for Windows users, not Mac users - NumLock never lights up properly, and…

This is a freestyle edge with no blue highlight

Edited: For $30 more I'd recommend buying an edge instead. The keys around the edge are much softer and smoother. The keyboard no longer has those annoying labels that I remapped. Especially the numbers on the left side I have completely reassigned one line below. Revain does not currently offer the VIP3 pro for sale (lift kit including wrist rest). It's much more comfortable with the palm rest, it's worth it. Kinesis sells the VIP3 Pro for $40 but with $15 shipping. After some calculations I…

I was looking for the perfect combination of ergonomics and a mechanical keyboard. That's pretty close on its own, but to be called an ergonomic keyboard you really need the VIP3 Pro (AC920 ASIN: B07CX5ZF3L) tent and palm rest kit. I liked the shape of the Microsoft Sculpt keyboard but after using 3 units each missing keystrokes I gave up on it. If you like the feel of this keyboard, this one (with the Pro kit) is exactly that. The brown switches are a welcome change from the red switches on my

Worthy replacement for the old Microsoft Ergnomic Keyboard

Cherry brown switches are good; pleasant touch, not too loud. During meetings, there were no complaints about the loud mechanical keyboard. A few keyboards ago I had an MS Ergonomic keyboard, model 4000 if memory enough. They had membrane switches but pretty good quality. , which mimic the full keyboards of yesteryear, with the Page Down, Page Up, Arrow and Exit keys all perfectly positioned, at least I thought so. It had to be replaced and I got the next generation MS Ergonomic; it was just…

When choosing between this keyboard and Koolertron.

Get the Koolertron if: You want a very small size You don't need to program a lot of macros You don't need to tilt the keyboard (you can put the inside edges under a piece of wood or something to get the full To get out of forearm pronation but there is no factory option that mounts well you need great easy to use macro programming software you need to be able to tilt with a factory fitted accessory that attaches to your computer (sold separately) you need more buttons!I would like to have 10…
