These are very good all round chisels for the price. I have yet to buy the expensive bits offered by some manufacturers, just like I don't have the best cars, audio equipment, or power tools. I think these chisels are more than enough for general use. I spend enough time sharpening my chisels to keep them working the way I want them to. Sharpened to a razor-like blade, these tools shave thin wood just like your hand.

I bought these to play with and learn how to carve simple wood joints so I cannot comment on the ergonomics or quality of the steel. I can find the edges dulling and dulling quicker than I expected even after just playing around with softer pine, but they still cut adequately. I was able to sharpen them to a good edge with a diamond whetstone and get on with my work. As another reviewer said, they will work very well, you just might need to sharpen them more often than better quality steel…

I bought these based on glowing reviews with the intention of using them as spare chisels in my wood shop. It turns out the steel is too soft for that - these really are carpenter's chisels. My first clue was a metal cap over the red plastic handles, indicating they were meant to be hit with a steel hammer. 3/4 inch bit - "full machining".
