For sauerkraut. I didn't need a lid and was happy to buy one without a lid. I like the fact that the pitcher doesn't have a rim as grating the sauerkraut can scratch the rim or raised rim. Perfectly packed. I could fly from Richmond to Mexico and the shard was safe. The same multi cooker is available at half price plus shipping on other sites. A 1 gallon jar scale is also available on another site. Such weights for a shard of this size are hard to find.

Very nice, but I agree that they shouldn't show it with a brown lid, it's deceptive. I expected the cover to come with it. This caused me a lot of anxiety and time searching and searching to see if I had lost the lid only to find out it wasn't there. I never say NOT to buy in a review or title but for this junk I have to. The rim of the lid is a full inch or more in diameter, which is smaller than the hole in the pot, causing the lid to slip and not fit the pot well. Very disappointing inferior products from an American manufacturer. To make matters worse, the jug sat unused and untouched on my counter for days and now has a tear about 2 inches from the rim. I love my dishes. I recently made my first batch of sauerkraut and it was divine! Now I'm starting the seventh batch. I used an old Tupperware lid, specifically the D-size canister lid you can find on ebay (made in the USA - food grade plastic) and cut it to fit a jar to hold the veggies . I put a large marinade glass filled with water on top of it. That works great. My friend uses a gallon size freezer bag filled with water to weigh down the cabbage and it seems to work really well.
