I just received this. I had NO trouble separating them from the backing paper. I've seen more expensive versions that are made of more durable fabric and have a foldable plastic base. These markers work very well. They do their job - mark the wires. The price is good for what you get and it's a very nice set of letters, numbers and symbols. I use them in a professional application and I have no quality problems. I haven't soaked them but they seem fine with some moisture. They hold up well and don't come loose. My only problem is minor. Labels on perforated metal are difficult to remove. The perforation between the rows does not come off easily. I run the razor in the middle
