The most expensive collar we have is GARBAGE!

We bought this to keep an eye on my GSP during Covid. We have several hunting collars and know how to take care of them. This Garmin was the most expensive collar I have ever owned and was a huge disappointment. The first battery was defective after 2 months. The 2nd battery did the same. Now it doesn't work at all, new battery, factory reset the device. Garbage. I have over $600 and you will too if you buy it

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Empty

Can be improved in GPS, finders and accessories

Too much for me makes it confusing to use, too many menu options. I use it to track my dogs. About the third time I used it it didn't find any satellites, I had to stop walking my dogs and go home in disgust. Turns out I accidentally turned on demo mode. This is after spending several hours trying to figure out what all the menu items do. The instructions are sometimes confusing and sometimes misleading or inadequate. I still can't figure out how to delete old tracks. (I loved my older, simpler

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

UPDATES DO NOT WORK WITH MAC - MUST HAVE A WINDOWS COMPUTER

ASTRO 430 After buying a Garmin ASTRO with a tag and an extra tag for my second dog I noticed this unit . didn't track the dogs properly. I called Garmin support. I was told I need to update the software on the receiver and token. They asked me to use the WebUpdater software. I downloaded the WebUpdater as suggested on the Garmin website - see image above. I downloaded the Mac version to my computer. After I did the update, the tags stopped working at all. On a subsequent call to Garmin I was…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

It's totally worth it.

Price sucks yes. But let's talk specs. The battery life is as stated. The only reason for four stars is that I had to buy batteries. Buy Eneeloop Nickel Metal Hydride rechargeable batteries (or something else as advertised I forgot) and the battery will last as long as advertised. The device has a bird's eye view and literally covers the whole world. I live in West Virginia and can now track that my dog is behind a certain tree in the woods. The durability seems to be good. Not afraid of water,

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
