Gates 43541 Premium Engine Water Pump: Enhance Your Vehicle's Cooling System Performance Review

Didn't expect it to be made in China. The O-ring feels flimsy but otherwise looks as it should. It has a factory plastic impeller as it should be. Fits perfectly, let's see how it holds up.

Purchased 10/27/2018, installed early December 2018. I would like to spend the extra $ on Motorcraft or Alliant. Mine had a plastic impeller, I should have guessed when I saw it.

Just received the pump but no o-ring. The box has been sealed so Ring 0 should not fall out. Now I need to find the o-ring so I can proceed with the repair. I will update the quality later when I use the truck. Stars will be added later as I drive the truck.

Goals have been around for a long time. As expected, well made and constructed. I was thinking of saving a few extra bucks for an aluminum impeller water pump. I see no value in it. My OEM 180k pump was fine and was leaking through the o-ring. Ditch the pump and buy a new ring just in case. I will have all my repairs like this ie hoses.

Quality product at a reasonable price. No worries at all about not getting a steel impeller. I removed the original water pump at 177,000 miles and the impeller was fine. The reason I changed the water pump was because the small plug was rusty and leaking. I would buy again without hesitation.

Coolant leaked onto the crankshaft of my 2007 F350 and onto the floor. Investigation showed that it came from a water pump. Gates is a good brand, everyone I spoke to said they were good pieces and they liked them. This seems to have fixed my truck's problem. No leaks. Very solid piece, felt and looked like OE quality. Didn't feel or look cheap.

Unfortunately I have to say that when assembling engine conversion parts, I tore the plastic impeller of the water pump right out of the box. Talk about disappointment. Unfortunately, it's my own fault for believing in the product without studying it thoroughly. This is a warning to anyone trying to slowly restore something in parts, double check everything. I don't have any money, but I can't restore the engine without buying another one. OH!

To be clear as the reviews say both, this pump arrived on 04/17/2019 with a plastic impeller as stated in the product description. This is a very good pump, as good as it gets. receive. Remember that if the bearing fails, the metal impeller will destroy your front cover. As for the plastic impellers, that's stupid. If your cooling system has so much dirt in it that the impeller is worn out or physically damaged, you're in big trouble. If you have corrosion in your cooling system I cannot say…
