GE has always been a trusted company producing quality and reliable electrical products. I was very surprised when the ballast failed a few minutes after installation. was i angry Of course I was. I wanted to throw it away but my wife persuaded me to return it. My search for a reliable workshop light continues.

This product only lasted a day more than a few months since delivery on February 20th, today April 23rd I changed the lightbulb and nothing. It turned out that the ballast was defective and a new ballast cost almost as much as the whole installation. I wanted to make a return, but I have to be outside of this window because the option wasn't provided. I do not recommend buying as I cannot return a defective item. This lamp was a big mistake! Glad I opened it up and took a look before spending a minute installing it. First, ballast is cheap junk that will likely last for several months. Second, I usually check the bulb to make sure it's easy to buy from local stores. Not so! NOBODY carries a spare bulb. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the power line openings were simply printed onto the metal case. No one can knock them out without bending or scratching the case. I use this to light up my bearded dragon's cage. I use a different bulb so I can't comment on the quality of this bulb but it's nice to have one included if you use it for under cabinet lighting. Installing a cable (not included) in one of the holes located around the metal case. There are knockout holes on both sides, making it suitable for any installation method. I decided to make the light bar in our kitchen closet a bit more attractive and chose this product. The design requires you to take it apart and attach the inner base to the bottom of the cabinet. It's bad enough, but there's no template to help you mark and drill holes as needed. Although the mount is lightweight, it is difficult to hold it in place, mark the spot to drill, install the screw while holding it, etc. The wire provided is quite short and may not be suitable for some people. It took me 1.5 hours to install. Remember that the two knockout holes are on the back, about 2-3 inches from each end. My existing wiring was in the middle of the cabinet so I had to drill a new hole. It's helpful to have a drill press and the right bits if you need to drill your own holes.
