Fat gecko is beautiful

I used a fat gecko to install a backup camera monitor in my antique truck. I put a fat gecko on the top right corner of the driver's windshield, with a monitor above it. My truck drives very erratically and the monitor doesn't move at all. I installed a camera as a right side mirror so I checked the monitor while driving. The monitor is fairly light and I will let you know if my opinion changes after using the windshield digital camera mount.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Nothing

What makes me suspicious of this mount isn't the suction power or how tight you can close the hinges, but the fact that it's made out of plastic, which feels rather soft to the touch and doesn't look like it look like they are made to very tight tolerances. The holes for the thumbscrew that holds the ball head didn't line up properly and the two halves barely fit onto the mounting arm. I understand that some tightening is required for the mount to work properly, but that doesn't appear to be…

Single Cup Not good for heavy loads

This review is for a single cup holder. After some fiddling with this product, it seems pretty solid. It is made of beautiful, very durable plastic and metal parts. However, it states that this item has a weight limit of 4 pounds. I'm testing this mount with my Sony a7 iii with a 16-35 f4 lens that weighs over 2.5 pounds. While the mount appears to support the weight in a static situation, there is no way I would trust it to bear a dynamic load, e.g. B. when attached to a moving vehicle. If you

Durability and maintenance

I bought our first Fat Gecko in 2012 after 5 years of service and so far we have decided we need one for our other kayak as well. The Fat Gecko has given us many water films over the years and has always been a reliable build. Shortly after buying the second unit, we lost half of the steering knuckle on a river trip. I looked around trying to find a new steering knuckle to buy. Eventually, desperate, I emailed Delkin Products telling them the story and asking where I could buy a new steering…

Fantastic mount is the best accessory

I've been using GoPro cameras professionally since they were introduced. I have several GoPro brand suction cups and they work great. I've never had any problems with them at all. I have one that is at least ten years old and still works perfectly. Now for the Fat Gecko mount. In terms of processing quality, it is in no way inferior to the GoPro mount. Fat Gecko's ball joint mount is awesome though! I have three other ball mounts that fit GoPro mounts, but the Fat Gecko ball mount is much…

Incredibly stable, powerful suction and very manoeuvrable.

UPDATE 6/12/2013 Unfortunately I had to update this review just a few days after writing this. A nutty friend of mine decided to test the tightness of the mount by pushing and pulling it enough that the lever was no longer stable on the base screw and would not tighten any further. The reason for this is that the square hole where the screw enters has deteriorated and become rounder. I still really like the mount so I asked Revain for a replacement which they sent out with same day shipping. If
