Works exactly like a factory part. The installation must be done with a new power socket for the auxiliary adapter or the cigarette lighter. Place the bracket onto the bushing and seat it correctly in the groove, maintaining the correct orientation. Doesn't take more than a few minutes.

I have a cigarette lighter adapter so I can charge my cell phone and speed camera detector. Because my device keeps the adapter working even when my device is off, I had to constantly unplug it and it kept breaking the latch. So I bought another adapter to screw into the center console so it doesn't happen again. That worked great for me.

So I bought the part based on my VIN in the GM database. Turns out the part doesn't fit. I had to force it in because the guides (grooves) didn't line up with the template in the plate hole for the latch. GM is a joke and has been declining in quality for decades and I hear it has reached critical mass with its 2020 products. I gave this one 2 stars because after trial and error it worked and forced it into place. There is no other part than this. So folks, if you need it, you have to deal with
