Timken SP580310 Wheel and Hub Assembly

I just installed two of these wheels on my 2007 GMC Sierra Classic 2500HD. The original bearings were Timken and they were forged, made in the USA. I was hesitant to buy these bearings because I saw in other reviews that they are now made in China. I decided to order them anyway because I've always had good luck with Timkens and they happen to be made in the USA. I hope I can still drive 180,000 miles.

Timken SP580310 Fits 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4

I have both wheel bearing assemblies on my 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4 Duramax CCSB on the 2nd This is a direct replacement as shown in the picture with the ABS cable. Ordered two day delivery at $149.83 plus tax each. These are genuine USA made Timken bearing units. The packaging was excellent. I've only been riding them for about a week, so good. UPDATE July 2018. I've been riding it since February 2017 and haven't had any problems.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Questionable Senior Purchase

2004 Chevy 2500HD Front Hub Assembly

This is the second Timken hub assembly I have purchased for a 2004 Chevy 2500 HD. I bought one for the driver's side two years ago and now the passenger's side is defective. It arrived the next day, was easy to install, and has a much better seal and bearing than what I looked at on AutoZone. They weren't that expensive, but the fact that I didn't have to change the one on the driver's side made it worth it. Having replaced the driver's side with 2 cheap ones and they only lasted 6 months each,

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!

  • Slightly torn

Problem with one of the two

Ordered two, after installation came "ABS warning and trailer towing system" after the scan, it looks like both nodes are not working communicate with the car. Bought and installed two new sensors, cleared the codes with a code reader, but a warning popped up right after. Spent over $300 on diagnostics at a GM dealership. The dealer found that the sensor in one node had worn out and both were unable to communicate with the truck. Buy an OEM or AC Delco as the problem is still there. Now both…

Great hub but it doesn't come with dust caps! Works with 2x4 and 4x4

TIMKEN SP580310 works with both 4x4 and 2x4 but this hub does not come with dust caps. I reused my old rear dust cover from my old hub. I bent the rear dust cover slightly when removing the cover with a flathead screwdriver and a hammer. I shaped the curved area with a hammer. For the front dust cover, you can buy Dorman Wheel Hub Dust Caps - HELP 13920 here on Amazon. Note: This dust cover is made of thin, soft metal. DO NOT hit the dust cover or you will remember (ask me how I know). Instead,

I thought Timken should be the best choice?

I installed these bearings on my 2005 2500hd after about 40,000km. Both bearings make pops and rattles when rotating at low speeds. It happened when driving 12000-15000 km. I narrowed it down to that by replacing everything that literally moves forward from the hitch. When I lift the truck off the ground, grab the steering wheel and squeeze really hard like I'm trying to turn it over, there's a noise. What confuses me is that there is absolutely no play in the wheel and no vibration at all. It…

WRONG PART. DO NOT TRUST INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. WILL NOT FIT 1500.

This part number does NOT apply to a 1500 Chevy or GMC with 3 mounting bolts and 6 wheel studs as listed by Revain, it instead refers to a 2500 with 4 mounting bolts and 8 wheel bolts. I just found out when my truck got blown apart. I shouldn't have ordered from Revain. I listed my truck's exact specs as a 1500 and got the go-ahead that this part "would match your vehicle". I am extremely disappointed. Now I need to make a return and deal with it. I would give this Timken stock 5 stars, but…

Speed Sensor Failure

Bought and installed this Timken hub with speed sensor on the front of a 2001 GM 2500 HD pickup. The presentation was perfect. It appeared to be genuine Timken stock in original Timken packaging. However, within 60 days and 500 miles, the unit failed. The speed sensor on the hub was sending erratic readings, causing problems with the ABS warning light and brakes. The price is tempting, but either I sent fake junk or this is one of those parts that you should only get from OEM. I don't know…
