I have a 33" waist and wear 34" pants so I have a 34" belt. It's all personal preference but me like the end of the buckle is longer so I can hold it comfortably when I fasten it. I have carpal tunnel and it hurts to grab the short end. The strap is not to blame. Perhaps I am writing too soon as the nature of a good belt is the test of time but so far I really like it. Buffalo leather is much softer and more flexible than regular cowhide, the holes are wide enough for my different buckles and I really like the combination of rustic and classic. I had to reorder because the size is a bit too big. small (38 waist 35) but worth it. Confused that "stretching" is a category to go by; This is a leather belt, it should not stretch

Belt looks the same as in the photo. Firm grain leather, not too thick. I like the beveled edge but if you want square edges look elsewhere. Notes: 1) If you want to use a heavy duty buckle with a thick frame, you will have trouble closing the button because it is too close to the loop (which holds the buckle frame and not the loop).
