I bought this grill less than a year ago and the tack free plates have started to rust around the edges. The plates were hand washed only with dish soap, hot water and a soft sponge. The instructions show that there are two indicators: red and green. The green light should come on after about four and a half minutes to indicate the grill is ready to use.
