I bought this grill less than a year ago and the tack free plates have started to rust around the edges. The plates were hand washed only with dish soap, hot water and a soft sponge. The instructions show that there are two indicators: red and green. The green light should come on after about four and a half minutes to indicate the grill is ready to use. The indicator will turn amber before turning green. The instructions don't say anything about this and it takes well over four and a half minutes for the green light to come on. This is the third George Foreman grill I own. This one isn't as well made as the previous two and I doubt it will last as long as the first two I had. It remains to be seen how long the non-stick plates will last, as the non-stick surface is already showing signs of wear.
