Description of Gfci Receptacle Tamper Resistant Ivory

TR symbol on residential receptacles assures they meet the 2008 NEC requirement. A shutter mechanism inside the device blocks access to the contacts unless a two-prong plug is inserted, helping ensure foreign objects will be locked out. Patented lockout feature for added safety prevents RESET if GFCI is not operating properly. Advanced electronics design provides superior resistance to electrical surges and over-voltages. Expanded wiring options with eight back-wire holes (two for each line and load connection) plus ground with an internal clamp.

Faulty safety features on receptacle

This GFCI receptacle promises tamper resistance, but fails to deliver. Thanks to my knowledge gained in practice, I found that the safety features are unreliable and do not function properly... While the ivory color may be aesthetically pleasing it's not worth sacrificing safety for..

Pros
  • Aesthetically pleasing.
Cons
  • Faulty safety features.

Great product from a reputable electrical manufacturer

I wanted to update my garage with sockets and a pair of GFCIs at the end of the garage for the outdoors. I was fed up with the standard white and ivory, so for a change I decided to go with this one in bright red. It really stands out from the standard garage and works just like any other GFCI available from Leviton. The only downside is that they have to make shorter bezel screws to fit the surface mount metal box. I had to use heavy duty cutters to cut the screws in half so the panel screws…

Pros
  • Standard Sockets
Cons
  • Small Parts
