When the device is plugged in and switched on, you may hear a faint noise from the rectifier if you hold it to your ear. I bought this to power small loads like fans and other small appliances. I have a 600w solar panel and use it to power my Milwaukee M12 batteries. Works great, I can connect two M12 chargers to it and it doesn't even get hot. The fan never turned on at low loads. This device was purchased in July. This worked for a few minutes on our RV TV. It went into alarm mode and after we reset it the TV ran for a few minutes and did the same. I'm skeptical of some of these cheap inverters but this one will come in very handy during the 30 day return period and decided to take a chance.
