Gitzo GH3382QD Center Ball Black Review

Wow! The best ball head I've ever used. I've tried other brands in this price range (RSS, AcraTech, ArcaSwiss etc) but once I mounted my D810 with a 150-600mm lens on this little one it was all over. Super slim and built like a tank. And it looks really good - a bonus.

I bought this to use with my Gitzo GT4553SUS Lightweight Systematic Tripod SER.4 5S Crazy expensive I know. But it's so easy to use that the MOST IMPORTANT thing is not to miss a good shot! It's a bit heavy and weighs down on the tripod overall, but it's still worth it. For city walks I carry it in a big backpack, not bad. In fact, I preferred this rig over the Gitzo Traveler series. Mainly because I don't like the ball head that comes with the Traveler series (which of course you can replace).

EARLIER THOUGHTS I LOVE this ballhead! I had RRS BH-40 and BH-55, Manfrotto and even some Arca-Swiss. This ball head is not only excellent in handling and stability, but also looks great. There is no slip behavior that is like that at all. And even using it in the 20 degree f range resulted in excellent smoothness. This is by far the smoothest panoramic ballhead base I've ever used.
