Only fits a very small stock

It seems to work very well but be sure to read the description to make sure it will work for the material you are using. The largest dowel he will work with is 1 inch in diameter. But the tool works really well with the dowels it was designed for.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • I am worried

Exactly what I needed.

I've had several projects that required me to drill a hole in the center of a small diameter dowel. This made it very easy to find the center and mark it quickly. The punch makes a nice dent in the middle to hold the bit in place when I start drilling. The only downside may be the small size, but with larger diameter dowels or a disc of wood, the center can be easily found with a carpenter's square and square or other methods.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Like that

Not as accurate as you might think

I'm starting to read the reviews and thinking well this looks like something I could actually use. I waited a few days for it to arrive, thinking I'd get an exact center on some of the dowels I needed to drill. Cut the dowel to length, put the 1st one in this jig, I thought I had straightened everything up and down, tapped the end, looked at the dowel, well, it was bent about a millimeter. Sounds a little, but when you need precision centering, YOU NEED PRECISION CENTERS! I got confused with…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
