Warning label 'This product contains Benzidine'

So I don't normally pay attention to California Prop 65 warnings, but these gloves came with a very specific 'Benzidine' warning. I didn't know what it was so I googled it. It's a dye whose production has been banned in the US since 1973 because of its carcinogenic potential, although it still allows the sale of products made with benzidine dyes. They really work!

I don't know how they do it and how they are processed, but you definitely can't cut them with a knife. I do a lot of housework with power tools including utility knives, razors, scissors, wire cutters and all kinds of sharp tools. I wanted to find a pair of gloves that I can wear for a long time and that I feel comfortable in. I also wanted them to be thin enough that I could grab things like screws or other small objects and still feel them through my glove. So far it's been great! I even…

Benzidine is not a problem.

The gloves are cut resistant and comfortable. Haven't washed them yet but they seem thick enough to protect them yet thin enough not to get in the way of cutting tools. I thought I could share a few thoughts on this and why I don't mind that you find such a warning on a pair of kitchen gloves. California requires this warning for anything containing ingredients suspected of being metabolized to benzidine. Note that the wording is not "This product contains benzidine" but rather "This product…
