I don't like the cheap connections on the temp gauge so I have...

Gauge works and is accurate, not yet installed on my truck but did a quick countertop test with water from a coffee maker. I don't like cheap connectors on the temp sensor, so I ordered a weatherproof 2-wire connector that's very similar to what's under the hood of a car. I solder and shrink one end of this wire to the temp sensor and the other end to the wire that goes into the cabin, which makes a much more reliable connection than the cheap wires that go to the sensor. It's just that I'm…

BUT? I'm still not sure.

Hey everyone! I've had several fluorescent sensors in my truck for about a year. In the beginning it was exciting. New shiny things, you know how it is. But lately I've been having problems. From the start, the temperature reading had to travel several miles, ten or twelve, on the freeway before it even took hold. At that time I had installed a transmitter unit in the port to check the pressure on my E4OD. Now the sensor almost never registers the temperature. I moved the transmitter block…

Also consider other options

My big problem with this sensor is that it requires an unswitched power source to maintain the selected light color after the car has been turned off. It's not clear why they wanted a wire connected to an unswitched circuit. I'm not a big fan of constantly draining the battery without knowing why, so I just connected both wires to the switched circuit. With this approach, I've found that if you select the display color you want, it resets when you turn the car off. Corners and edges were cut in

Solid caliber. Worth the price.

great sensor. Installed as close to the exhaust pipe as possible in my 99 Runner with the T option. Easy installation with clear instructions. Not only tells you where your cables go, but why they should go there, making it easy to improve. It only took me about an hour to complete, and that's with installing the included mount that fits in my dash. The sensor shines well in daylight, about as bright as my stereos, but not annoying at night, and 30 percent dimmer with my headlights is fine. It…

Glowshift Trans. Temp Sensor (94 Chevy C1500)

I installed this on a 1994 Chevrolet C1500 with a 4L60E automatic transmission. The temperature sensor has a 1/8 NPT thread and the measuring connection has the same thread. Tip: Do not crimp the ends of the wires to the sensor before inserting it into the test port, as the wires will twist naturally. I didn't use the orange wire because that's where the name "glowing" shift comes from, so I didn't want to dim them by connecting them to the headlight fuse, I wanted them to "glow" as intended…
