This is NOT like the original Gold N' Hot curling iron at all. I bought this after my old Gold N' Hot Marcel curling iron finally died after years of use and abuse. The new one was much smaller and the handle was so thin it was difficult to hold. I took it out of the box and immediately hesitated. I decided to give it a try anyway before deciding whether to keep it or return it. I plugged it in and smoke started coming out of the bottom of the handle where the cable attaches. Back to Revain…

I've been using this for over 10 years and was so happy to find another when mine finally stopped working. For me there is no better curling iron!

I've been using the Gold n' Hot Marcel straightener for over 20 years and honestly it's the best way to curl my hair. But something has changed with this brand. I don't know if it's because Helen of Troy came out with the Precious Gold n' Hot line or maybe the iron I got was bad but broke soon after. The heating element also did not reach the normal temperature for coarse and thick hair. I actually had to wait longer than necessary for the element to come up to temperature to curl my hair. Very

Hair rollers get very hot so you must be very careful not to burn yourself. They are also slightly larger than I expected. I wanted a little about 1/2 inch. Theses seem pretty big, like 1 inch. Otherwise they are good.

OLD SCHOOL AT THE BEST! These curlers are the best of their kind! If you don't know how to use Marseille curlers, don't curl your hair. I've been using them for many years. They are heated evenly by the thermostat knob and pressed and turned at the same time. Always check the temperature on a towel, if it's too hot it will definitely burn your hair. It takes a little practice to get the hang of it.
