Description of ๐Ÿ”Œ Goliton USB 3.1 Front Panel Header to USB 3.0 20Pin Header Extension Cable 20cm - Compatible with ASUS Motherboard for Improved SEO

USB 3.1 require a different front panel header than USB 3.0. The USB 3.1 port interface is using the USB 3.0 pin set and more. It is design to be backwards compatible (will explain later). There are no official release of the specs for the USB 3.1 header yet (as of this writing), But first motherboard with this is the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX FORMULA,STRIX Z270I/Z270G etc. Connector1: USB 3.0 Front Panel Header. Connector2: USB 3.1 Front Panel Header.

I didn't fit 100%.

Purchased to connect an internal memory card reader to the motherboard ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi). I used a single 3.0 header to connect the front USB ports to the motherboard. I decided that I could use this adapter to connect a memory card reader to a USB 3.1 gen2 port. It did not work. As others have pointed out, this only connects 1 of the 2 ports in the header. The USB 3.0 port on the reader worked, but none of the card slots were recognized. If it were the other way around,

Works for 2 USB 3.0 ports

I was hesitant to order this after looking at most of the reviews, there were very conflicting answers that they didn't fully work. It would be a real shame if you had 2 USB 3 ports only to know that only one works. I've had some desktop card readers with USB ports not working because I don't have enough ports on my motherboard and it seems frustrating. Connected, lay a screed. Works as it should be. Used on Asus ROG x570. Now I'm more worried about bad reviews and I think it's theirโ€ฆ

Nothing.: Computer Accessories and Peripherals

I was thrilled when I found this. Unfortunately this won't work for me. I have an EVGA Z390 Dark motherboard. I have a useless USB 3.1 Gen 2 port, apparently for USB Type C. I was hoping this would work because I really need these ports. Very disappointing. It seems that the power does not pass.

Works with ASUS motherboards!

I bought this for the USB 3.0 ports on my case. My ASUS Maximus X Code motherboard has a USB 3.1 Gen 1 (formerly USB 3.0) header that was occupied by the RGB controller, leaving only USB 3.1 Gen 2 (formerly USB 3.1) for the front I/O ports of my case remains. I was able to connect the front panel cable to the 20-pin blue connector on this product and then to the ASUS motherboard. The product name clearly says "for ASUS motherboard". The other guy who posts a 1 star review clearly says he hooked

Didn't work on ASUS Zenith Extreme II Alpha

I ordered two of these for ASUS Zenith Extreme II Alpha installed in Thermaltake W200 case, didn't work for me. One end of the connector mates with Thermaltake W200 chassis front panel cable and the other end mates with motherboard USB 3.2 Gen 2 connector. None of them worked. However, I have not yet tried to verify the same conditions on another motherboard.

  • Durable test results

Only one port works PLUS BSOD, hooray!

Other reviews are right, this one ONLY powers a USB 3.0 port. So if your case has 2 USB 3.0 ports on the front, this will not fully work for you. I could live with that, hence the 3 stars. However, this device also causes power state issues. After my computer was on for 5 minutes, I was greeted with a BSOD code "Driver Power State Failure". The only change on my system was using this plugin. After disabling it, my computer is now working fine. So that cable was, to a large extent, the catalyst.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak

Doesn't work with MSI motherboard

5 stars because Revain is happy to accept returns. It was the last "functional" step in more than two years of construction. It all started over two years ago with the Case Labs SMA8 case from Revain. I never expected Case Labs to fall a few months ago (much later than Revain's comeback window). But I was very lucky and was able to get other necessary Case Lab parts from other sources. This was the start of the front USB issue. I had to use the front USB 3.0 conversion kit that Case Labsโ€ฆ

Only 1 of the 2 front USB ports works

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus XI Hero (WiFi). but I only have 1 of the 2 USB ports on my case, although both work fine when plugged into the USB3.0 port on the motherboard. Luckily I had another unused USB 3.1 (Gen 1) port that I can still use. Also, the end of the adapter that plugs into the case's USB port doesn't hold up well. You may accidentally disable this adapter when assembling your PC.

Some pins are not connected

I am using this extension cable to connect the USB Type-C on the front of the SilverStone SST-RL05BR-W chassis to the Gigabyte H370 Aorus Gaming 3 Wi-Fi motherboard When I connect a Kingston flash drive microDuo, 121MB/s read speed as expected. However, if you connect a smartphone using the "USB Type-C to Micro-USB" adapter cable, the smartphone is either not recognized or only works in charging mode (i.e. without data transfer). The reason is the missing connection of some pins in theโ€ฆ
