Tasty and filling: freeze-dried products

After 15 miles it was dinner. The gumbo was very tasty and filling - a nice surprise for a dehydrated meal. I love this dinner and I will buy it again.

Not impressive for a camp kitchen

My training company freezes food, of all the companies we've tried they definitely lack flavor and taste good and are the most expensive per serving.

Has no flavor but is hot

I shared this with a friend and we both agreed. This item had no taste other than hotness. It was very soft but burned the tongue. I have no intention of buying from this company again. Waste $14.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

The real Cajun is here! This isn't gumbo, read on!

First let me say I'm FROM south Louisiana where we eat gumbo a few times a week so I had high hopes but they didn't come true. It's NOT gumbo, it's more like mashed dirty rice and jambalaya. Rehydration wasn't very good, so okra and chicken will be tough. The flavor is decent, but it's not gumbo flavored. Also, it's too Spivey for what it is. You will sweat a little while eating this. is it decent Will it fill you up? Partly because it's rice. But is it gumbo? Three stars for the effort

Did the job without too much sodium

I'm looking for hiking foods and unfortunately 99% of foods contain too much sodium. The preparation is easy. Pour some boiling water into the bag and wait 15 minutes. It's a bit thick and you'll definitely need to stir it first. Shared this with others at the campsite. I'm used to a low salt diet so the taste was ok. A very easy spice hit and no emergency trips to the nearest tree. A bit on the soft side but not really a deal breaker. Others, accustomed to salty and processed foods, have…

Disappointing good outdoor product

First of all I've been looking for better camping dining options for a while and maybe after reading the rave reviews I had set the bar high. Problems: 1. "Spicy", "New Orleans" or "Creole" are good words to add to the name. At the Louisiana party, I make gumbo, which is usually a bland chicken soup. Despite all the misinterpretations on my part, it was very hot and I eat a lot of very spicy Thai etc. We made it, but it was tough. 2. Hot was the only taste. The low sodium came at the expense of
