This handy device is a mainstay for anyone learning to play with microcontrollers. Everyone wants to be able to read humidity and temperature and this device is perfect for that. I love that they soldered the pins and even gave me a cable. It looks like it already has pulldown resistors so I don't need to add them to my project. I like the cord because I can stretch the sensor away from my gear for more accurate readings. I have found that humidity levels vary by about 10%. For example, if your

Lighter than regular DHT22

I usually wait longer for reviews but I couldn't wait to say how much I love these ones. With the circuit board attached, there's no need for soldering at all, just plug it in and do something cool. Using custom code I've used this to display near real time temperature and humidity on the control interface, it displays the readings every minute in a line graph and adds the readings to the video itself. You won't find that in any consumer camera. A good thing!

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Having trouble

They're easy to use and connect, have great build quality, but they're insanely inaccurate! I have them sitting next to each other and they differ by more than the fault of one device. Of course, given the fields of both units, they technically work, but I thought it was pretty crazy. I use them to control the temperature and humidity in my box of PETG filament, so I guess the inaccuracy isn't a huge deal breaker for me, but I was hoping I wouldn't literally see that much of a difference…

Stops working after a week! Don't waste money.

I have this sensor hanging in the freezer, connected to the RaspberryPi 3+ board. Today the sensor no longer reads any values and is not even recognized by the circuit board. This is after being in the freezer for less than a week. When I bought this I knew it wasn't the most reliable option, but not even for a week? Serious? I will be replacing it with the second one from the pack while I look for a more reliable alternative.

Accurate and easy to use

They are as accurate as any other thermometer and hygrometer I have at home. I connected them to several Raspberry Pi Zeros and installed them in several rooms in my house where the temperature fluctuates wildly so I can remotely monitor the temperature on my phone. I've created a website that shows readings from these sensors and sends me text alerts when the temperature or humidity is out of range. They simply connect to the GPIO pins on your Raspberry Pi and come with all the necessary…

Get ready to do some detective work

The sensor is supplied without documentation. If you write your own code instead of using one of the Arduino or C libraries available on the internet, you should be ready to do some detective work. Not all DTH22 specifications are created equal. They have been translated from Chinese. Find one that clearly explains the waveform of the data (no manual notation). The numerical format of the sensor output is also not clear from the data sheet. The best source of information I found on sensor…

Good module but better English documentation needed

I used it in a temperature controller to sense temperature and humidity at two locations in the incubator. Much more accurate than DHT11 and uses a very similar communication strategy. Good luck finding the *exact* English version of the spec. All "translations" from Chinese have incorrect dates and status information, but a thorough google will lead you to what you need (ie a properly rewritten spec made by a frustrated amateur lol). Documentation issues aside, these are good modules and very…
